Social responsibility, just one of the pillars to sustainability

At EFG, we believe that it is our social responsibility to give back to the community, both financially and by getting involved, hands-on.

When a primary school contacted us to assist in some of their deteriorating infrastructure, we were happy to oblige. Social responsibility is just one of the pillars to sustainability and what better way than to create a sustainability mindset from an early age?

The project at Riverlands Primary, a small rural school outside of Malmesbury, entailed the upgrade and repair of the learners’ vandalised bathrooms. This project was a multi partner project that was done in phases and coordinated by one of the school’s teachers.

EFG is proud to be associated with this project and contributed financially to purchase the industrial toilet seats (supplied by Bathrooms4U in Stellenbosch at cost price), supplementary materials to repair to bathroom doors as well as locks to keep the bathrooms safe from vandals. A day was spent at the school installing all the toilet seats, repairing the doors and fitting the locks.

The remainder of the project was the painting of walls, which was done by a team from PSG Konsult as part of their 67 Minutes for Mandela Day, painting of the floors with industrial floor paint (paint organized by Kotlowitz Marais Architects (KMA) and supplied by Dulux).
